Espera Feliz é um dos nove municípios que compõem as cidades ao entorno da Cordilheira da Serra do Caparaó. Localizada ao sopé da serra. Como de costume, alguns engenheiros, membros da comissão imperial, puseram-se à espera de possíveis caças que eram abundantes na região. Como era de se esperar, não faltaram caças e, após dias sucessivos, foram “FELIZES”, naquela empreitada e daí surgiu o primitivo nome de “FELIZ ESPERA”.   O município também é dono de algumas das mais belas riquezas naturais do estado. A área rural é repleta de cenários bucólicos, com paisagens de imensos vales recortados por riachos, pastagens, currais e estradinhas de terra. Entre os grotões, há complexos de cachoeiras com águas límpidas e naturais, que nascem ao pé dos picos e descem esculpindo nas rochas formas e pilões milenares. Um verdadeiro convite ao turismo rural, ecológico e de aventura pelas chapadas, flancos e trilhas rodeadas por mata atlântica e visuais inesquecíveis.
